asymmetric society

asymmetric society
A term devised by the American sociologist James S. Coleman , who argues (in The Asymmetric Society, 1982) that the growth of corporate actors in advanced capitalism (in the form of business, trades union, and government organizations) has generated an increasing asymmetry between individuals and corporate organizations, with power gradually moving from the former to the latter.
